Art to Heart – Thank you Reception SAHC
SAHC (South Asian Heart Center) is an astounding organization, I feel everyone needs to know about! They are a non-profit organization in response to the epidemic of heart disease in people from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and other South Asian countries. SAHC provides a comprehensive, culturally-appropriate program incorporating education, advanced screening, lifestyle changes, and case management to help prevent coronary artery disease among South Asians, and save lives!
This organization has an amazing board behind it and great support from El Camino Hospital, who feel this cause is very, very important. Not only to South Asians, but everyone. Spreading awareness for heart conditions is vital! Living a healthy life is only going to do you good in the long run. Do it for your health and change the way you choose to live your life. Don’t wait to be on the verge of a heart attack to take action! They offer free screenings! In fact there is a free screening this Saturday morning, at 7:00 am for Women. (I recommend all girls go, no matter the age!) This is the perfect opportunity to see where you stand with you heart and to see how healthy you are really living your life. You could be eating organic and exercising, but you might not be doing it the correct way. There is no harm in getting the test done. If anything it will help you to better understand what works for you and what doesn’t.
SAHC had a huge gala event earlier this year. This past Thursday, they held a Thank You dinner for their Donors of $5,000 or more and I was honored to cater their dessert for the evening. Their association is big on eating healthy and keeping things in “control” for your heart. That’s exactly what I did. I made a very small, light dessert that everyone loved! I wanted to thank the organization for allowing a rookie to come and cook for an amazing cause! I couldn’t have asked for a better first event to showcase my work! Thank you SAHC and I am proud to be a part of such an amazing organization!
