Thanksgiving 2013
Thanksgiving is that time of year we all give thanks to the people we are thankful for, for the life we are thankful for, and for everything else we are thankful for! Followed by a day of trampling, stomping, and yelling at people at stores for Christmas shopping. How lovely!
Thanksgiving this year was at my uncle’s place. Before I knew what was going on, I was assigned to be one of the chefs for the evening. I put together a list of items that would be interesting and different on a Thanksgiving menu. In the end, we decided to keep the menu traditional with a few unique items. The day of the dinner, there was way too much food. There was the food we prepared plus the dishes others brought. There of course was a turkey with stuffing, glazed ham, and six game hens. Look out for the following recipes over the next week:
Dinner Items:
Butternut Squash and Black Bean Lasagna with Chipotle Sauce
Italian Sausage Stuffed Mushrooms
Corn and Capsicum Stuffed Mushrooms
Jamaican Jerk Turkey Meatballs with Gazpacho
Potato Au Gratin
Penne Pasta in Romesco Sauce
Dessert Item:
Peach Jell-O with French Vanilla Pudding topped with a Persimmons Sauce
